Product Detail
A Watchmaker’s Eye Glass, or eye loupe, is a specialized magnifying tool designed for hands-free use. It is held in place by the user's eye socket (orbital bone), allowing both hands to remain free for delicate work.
Primary Function: To provide high-magnification viewing of intricate components—such as watch movements, jewelry settings, or micro-electronics—at a very close working distance.
Construction:
Body: Features a lightweight, flared plastic or vulcanite housing. The shape is ergonomically contoured to be "gripped" comfortably by the muscles around the eye.
Lens: A high-quality biconvex glass lens or an achromatic triplet (in premium versions) to minimize distortion and color fringing.
Ventilation: Most models include a small air hole in the side of the housing to prevent the lens from "fogging up" due to the warmth of the eye.
